The Cambodian Village Fund is a small, non-profit, grassroots organization whose mission is to improve the educational opportunities for the children in Cambodia. The Fund was started by Bill and Nancy Bamberger in 2006 to buy bicycles for children who needed transportation to get to school. The Fund has focused on Kaun Khlong, a rural village near Battambang, the second largest city in Cambodia. Our current project, and our most ambitious, is to build a new classroom building for the Kaun Khlong Primary School. We are also providing financial assistance to girls to help them continue their education beyond primary school. |

Our Trip to Cambodia
We went to Cambodia in January 2012, along with 25 friends and family members, to dedicate our new school and to see the amazing sites of Cambodia. You can watch a short (6 1/2 minute) video that focuses on our 2 days in the village of Kaun Khlong and Battambang. The school dedication ceremony, attended by hundreds of students, parents, teachers and government officials, was one of the most heartwarming days of our lives. Click here to watch the video. |

We've added a new feature to our website--a gift shop. The new shop features tee shirts and tote bags designed by Zion, our granddaughter. We also have a book by our friend Katy Guard. Our daughter, Amy, and son-in-law, Brian, (Zion's parents) are handling production and fulfillment. You can order on-line and pay by credit card or PayPal. All profits go the Cambodian Village Fund. |

The Cambodian Village Fund is helping girls continue their education beyond primary school. We provide funding for transportation, school uniforms and other necessities. We currently support eleven girls in middle school and high school, and one in college. Less than half of the girls in Cambodia go beyond the 6th grade, but with just a little financial help,
girls can complete high school and even continue on to college. Our girls are selected based on financial need as well as their ability to succeed in school. Click here to see how you can sponsor a girl. |

Microloans For Mothers
The village of Kaun Khlong now has a microloan program. We've been working with Niels Lund, Executive Director of Class-ACT, a non-profit organization that supports arts education in Cambodia. Niels started the Microloan for Mothers program in Phnom Penh and wanted to expand it to a rural village.
Five mothers with children attending our school will each receive a $100 business loan that will forever change their lives, and that of their families. The loans will be paid back with interest, which will be used to support the Kaun Khlong Primary School. During a six-month period, the mothers will meet weekly for instruction and sharing of ideas. They form a solid group with each mother co-guaranteeing the loan of the other four. It's a life-changing formula for the mothers, their families, and for the school.

Construction of the first 5-classroom building is finished. Funded by 205 contributors and a $25,000 interest-free loan from our friend, Katy Guard, the classroom is ready for the children when they return from summer break. See photos of the completed building. Click here to learn more about our Classroom Building Project
| A plaque with the names of all the people who made the school a reality is ready and will be attached to the front of the school. |
